Prince Albert Parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run that starts every Saturday morning at the Odendaal Sportgronde. April to September we start at 8 am, October to March we start at 7 am. It is part of the growing parkrun phenomenon around the world.
The route includes a bit of tar, some gravel track and about 2 km of trial in the Gordon Koppie. It is a lovely route with fantastic views and it gets you right into the Karoo veld.
We welcome parkrunners from all over South Africa and around the world on a Saturday morning.
Comrades king, Bruce Fordyce and his wife Gill visited Prince Albert during December 2014 to look at a possible route and then returned for the inaugural run on 6 June 2015. Bruce has friends (Di and Jeremy Freemantle) in Prince Albert and old family ties – his great grandfather, Dr Pieter Luttig, was the first locally born doctor and the only person to have a car in those days.
