This beautifully restored 1870’s Karoo cottage is situated on a farm within the village. Enjoy the freedom of open space, no neighbours, absolute privacy, breathtaking views of the Swartberg Mountains and birdlife on the dam – yet only 2km away from the centre of town.
The cottage is tastefully decorated in cool Karoo shades and provide accommodation which is spacious and extremely comfortable. The original clay walls and reed ceilings not only boast of wonderful character, but also add ambiance to the cottage and keep it cool in summer.
Ideal for an overnight, weekend or longer stay, the cottage is a lovely setting for a family, two couples traveling together, or even for a honeymoon.
There are 2 ultra spacious bedrooms with king size or single beds. Both bedrooms open onto the patio and each features a lounge, sleeper couch for younger children and air-conditioning. Each room has its own flat screen TV with bouquet Dstv channels – including all sport and movie channels, foreign languages, news and more.
Ceiling fans provide a breeze in summer, while heaters and electric blankets ensure snug nights in winter. The luxurious en suite bathrooms have corner baths, separate showers and heated towel rails. All rooms are provided with quality linen, towels, guest soaps and hairdryers.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Fittings include a micro-wave oven, stove, fridge and washing machine. A selection of coffees, teas, homemade rusks, fresh milk and sugar are provided.
Meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or on the patio. As you breakfast you will be bathed in the clear morning light. In the evening you can relax and watch the changing hues of the sky, or see the moon rises above the foothills of the mountains.
There is a Weber barbecue should you wish to braai.
Children are most welcome as they love the open spaces, having fun on the dam, rowing, swimming or fishing. Bring their rods as they can do catch and release of the carp. The dam is supplied directly from springs in the Swartberg along the “leivoor” furrow system. Swimming towels are provided.
Or just simply stay on the stoep to watch the mountain tortoises grazing on the lawn or see our famous tame springbok,”Bokkie” wandering up to your doorstep to feed.
Lazing the days away as you take in the lovely Karoo landscape and the stunning sunsets is absolutely soul contenting.
