The Thursday ClubThe Thursday Club Contact: Di van der Riet Steyn
We are a group of ladies in town who, for many years, quietly got on with an enormous number of charitable projects esp at the hospital, crèches and with needy people.
The charitable projects are made possible through the proceeds of selling second hand stuff, including clothes and books –
Every Saturday we sell items, kindly donated by generous town’s people, at the charity white elephant stall at The Saturday Market next to the Museum. We are determined to continue this successful stall that facilitates so many charity projects in town.
The Pop-up Shop or Yellow Shop is our new project and is generously sponsored by its owner. Here we sell mainly 2nd hand clothing and shoes and do a roaring trade with visiting teenagers looking for that RETRO look!
We sell 2nd hand BOOKS at both the white elephant stall and the Pop-up Shop as well as on the verandah of ‘Prince of Africa’ next to the Swartberg Hotel.
The main objective is to assist children, in particular, feeding them at play-schools daily and care for the elderly especially at our local old age home, where recently we facilitated the painting of the whole interior and replaced all water taps.
Please drop off anything you no longer need or want on the veranda of 15 Pastorie St, at Prince of Africa or call 082 937 2978, to be collected.
Financial donations are appreciated and used very well and can be deposited in ABSA 632005, The Thursday Group, savings acc nr 931 813 5445
