Prince Albert’s Karoo Kos-&-Geesfees is lighting up the Karoo on Friday 18th June. In conjunction with the wonderful weekend of art that is @prince_albert_open_studios the town plans to close part of the main road, is lighting the braais and turning up the tunes. Join us for bobotie and braai, dominoes and dancing, marshmallows, a bokdrol spoeg competition, boules, the town’s famous rieldansers who’ll make some magic in the dust and some of the town’s artists who’ll have their work on display. Taste some of the museum’s local witblits and watch a shooting star or three.
Date: Friday 18th June
Time: 4.30pm to 8pm
Where: In the area in and around the markie on Church Street. We are planning on closing the street itself – so there will be sufficient space for people, and we won’t be crammed into the markie, allowing social distancing.
What: SO MUCH. Music, loads of food stalls of all varieties – from charcuterie to bobotie and braais, to marshmallows for kids. The PA rieldansers will skop some dust, the local domino club will dazzle us, artists will be making art, there’ll be a bokdrol spoeg competition, other games and fires to keep everyone warm. To keep the insides warm, there’ll be witblits and glühwein and other treats.
Cost: There’ll be a R10 entrance fee for adults. We are selling tickets to help us keep an eye on Covid numbers. All kids, though, will be free.
There will be a few brochures available at Lazy Lizard and the Tourism Office for you to give to your guests or leave on their beds on the weekend of the event. They’ll be available from tomorrow, Saturday.
