PRINCE ALBERT WEATHER

Karoo Kothuis

Direction: In Town

Perched on the eastern edge of Prince Albert, Karoo Kothuis offers wide-open views of the Great Karoo. Watch the sunrise and sunset from the rooftop patio and enjoy the clear night sky with its endless stars.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Brakdak style, the cottage is built for the Karoo’s hot summers and cold winters. Thick walls, natural materials, and thoughtful design help regulate the temperature, with air-conditioning for summer and a Morso fireplace for winter.

Set in an indigenous garden and bordering farmland, the cottage has two queen bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, making it an excellent fit for couples or small families. The living area opens to the garden and view, while the outdoor patio and swimming pool offer a relaxing space.

For those who enjoy spending time outside, the kraal with a KolKol wood-fired hot tub provides a perfect spot for braais and stargazing. The cottage is furnished with original South African artworks and Vogel furniture, blending comfort with simple, well-made pieces.

Though on the edge of town, restaurants and attractions are within walking distance. Prince Albert’s quiet streets make it ideal for cycling, and classic electric bicycles are available by prior arrangement for those who want to explore on two wheels.

Tembi and Grietjie, the two resident dogs, roam the property and will likely greet you during your stay.

If you are looking for a comfortable base to enjoy the Karoo’s landscape, quiet, and big skies, Karoo Kothuis is a welcoming place to stay for a weekend or longer.
