7-10 JANUARY 2021 9AM – 1PM / 3 PM – 6PM DAILY
A visit to our delightful Karoo town, brimming with creatives and colourful characters, is always a treat. For art lovers and collectors, it gets even better, twice a year, when many of the local artists open their private studios to the public for a 4 day long art route. In these hallowed spaces, some belonging to internationally known artists, you can find anything from ancient skills such as blacksmithing, calligraphy, woodcutting and etching, through a whole spectrum from paintings in oils, watercolours and acrylics, both traditional and contemporary, to sculpture and jewelry made from found objects, land art, ceramics, and even kaleidoscopes and steam-punk light fittings made from old Land Rover parts.
PACT will be holding a special event at the POP Centre, where Igshaan Adams (textile artist and recipient of the Standard Bank Young Artists Award) and his team of art technicians will collaborate with Prince Albert Community Trust and local crafters, plus the youngsters of the Rondomskrik POP Center. The final work will be displayed at the POP Centre (no 27 on the map) for the duration of Prince Albert Open Studios and then donated to the local public hospital to be hung in their waiting room.
Stay a few days and look out for the colourful bunting and distinctive blue A-frame boards in front of various homes around town. Maps of the route are available from Prince Albert Gallery and the Tourism office, as well as Guesthouses around town.
In the 2 days leading up to the event, we will be holding Winter Workshops, where artists share their knowledge of various media. See our website for details.
