The last few months have been a flurry of activity with world-class events, VIP visits, film crews, new businesses, and much, much more. If this was the first half of 2025, fasten your seatbelts, things are ramping up for the last half.

Journey to Jazz 2025 once again started off hot with a sizzling opening performance by the Kyle Shepherd Trio bringing the house down, the heat dial got turned up from there with a goose-bump inducing People’s Concert and standing ovation performances all round. Accommodation for 30 April – 3 May 2026 is booking up fast, make sure you get in on the jazz action early.

Besides Prince Albert’s talented artists opening their creative spaces for Prince Albert Open Studios, this year’s event saw a complete overhaul of the program with a week of interactive workshops and activities. From a sundowner picnic to conjuring up superb sourdough loaves to heaps of demos and movies that inspired and kept creative juices flowing between all the art viewing. We cannot wait to see what the next Prince Albert Open Studios dishes up!

The inaugural Gamka Klassiek was a beautiful musical success that filled the town with classical music lovers and highly acclaimed musicians alike, including violinists Zanta Hofmeyr and Annien Shaw, violist Jeanne-Louise Moolman, cellist Susan Mouton, pianist Elna van der Merwe, as well as the magnificent singers Lynelle Kenned, Corneill Muller and William Berger.

Prince Albert will host Gamka Klassiek annually and provide music education and entertainment to the communities of Prince Albert, Leeu Gamka, Klaarstroom, and beyond.

ONS T Pot is open at The Langhuis! This Saturday morning tea garden is the latest addition to the ONS Botanicals project by the Prince Albert Community Trust.

Tea is served with homemade flapjacks, Gay’s Guernsey Dairy cream, local jam, and cheese—a true taste of Prince Albert hospitality.

Huge congrats to all the Ronde van Swartberg riders who braved 100 beautiful Karoo miles to cross the finish to be met by 100+ Prince Albert smiles. See you in the saddle again next year, we look forward to it!

Prince Albert had the privilege of hosting the Singita Journeys team for their strategy session recently. We know our beautiful Karoo town and incredible surrounding nature inspired many new and creative ideas!

It was all cameras and 4×4 action as Lexus SA chose our beautiful town and surrounds as the backdrop for the new Lexus GX commercial shoot.  Not to be outdone, KLM joined them on the advertising shoot bandwagon a few weeks later – apparently word is out that Prince Albert might just be the most beautiful filming destination in the country.

The surrounding hills have certainly been alive with the sound of music! Not to be overshadowed by jazz and classical shows, rock chords reverberated through the Showroom Theatre air in the form of formidable rocker Steve Graham and his touring show Monsters of Rock.
